Consent is a Liberatory Practice
Workshops / Coaching
Acknowledging that Dr. Betty Martin, who I’ve been working with since 2013, and her Wheel of Consent relational framework, are foundational to my teaching, coaching and practice.
The Framework
Rooted in the Wheel of Consent
My approach to consent education is informed by Dr. Betty Martin's Wheel of Consent® framework, with which I've been a practitioner, colleague, and collaborator since 2013. I bring these practices into my overall work through an intersectional, liberation-centered lens — addressing equity, the decolonization of the body, and our relationship to desire.
This work begins with a foundational question: How have our bodies been conditioned to go along with things we don't want?
From childhood through adulthood, most of us were never taught to recognize or communicate our boundaries. Our anger was devalued. Our desire was suppressed or shamed. The Wheel of Consent practice gently and profoundly reclaims what was lost — the power of authentic choice, embodied agency, and self-sovereignty.
Building Skills for an Inequitable World
Consent doesn't exist in a vacuum. Power, privilege, trauma, and systemic inequity all shape what feels possible — what we believe we're allowed to want, to refuse, to ask for.
My teaching integrates:
Somatic Awareness — learning to read and trust the body's signals
Somatic Discernment — developing the capacity to make authentic, felt decisions
Equity and Inclusion — understanding how identity, culture, and systemic forces affect access to consent
Embodied Boundaries — reclaiming limits as a form of self-knowledge, not self-protection
Teaching modules on Embodiment, Boundaries, Consent, and Sovereignty are available as standalone workshops or as a series, and can be adapted to your organization's specific needs and initiatives.
Consent as Organizational Culture
For leaders, executives, changemakers, and mission-driven organizations, consent practice isn't just a personal skill — it's a framework for how people work together.
My organizational development work creates a safe, generative container to:
Build relational communication and negotiation skills
Establish clear, consensual agreements that prevent and resolve conflict
Cultivate cultures where boundaries are respected and voices are heard
Address the impact of trauma, obligation, and systemic inequity on workplace dynamics
My background in corporate advertising, marketing, and recruitment — alongside direct work with non-profits, entrepreneurs and startups — gives me a grounded, practical understanding of the relational dynamics that make or break working relationships. I bring both lived experience and an intersectional lens to every engagement.
Practicing What I Teach
In addition to individual and organizational work, I serve in several community and educational roles:
